What’s up everyone? Welcome back to Mental Sweat Monday, I’m Hannah Huesman.
If I recommended you asking yourself two questions during the heat of the moment, in the middle of a game, performance, or big test, here’s what they would be.
1) What can I control?
Regardless of the situation. Bad weather. Being late. Someone not showing up when they said they would. What can I actually do about the situation right in front of me?
Realize that there’s a lot I can’t do anything about, but there’s are also things I can. Find them and execute them.
2) What can I enjoy?
You perform better when you enjoy what you do. Of course, every moment isn’t going to be super fun and enjoyable. But are you looking for the bad moments, or are you looking for the ones to rejoice in?
The choice is yours.
So, whether you’re performing the best you’ve ever done, or the worst and you feel like you’re spiraling downward, come back to these two questions — What can I control and what can I enjoy?
These two questions will help ground you, pull you in the present moment and help you focus on what you need to be focusing on.
