Welcome back to Mental Sweat Monday, I’m Hannah Huesman.
Today I want to talk about a very important mental skill. Maybe the most important mental skill — a present moment focus.
The late Kobe Bryant said it best, “it’s not about the hours you practice. It’s about the number of hours your mind is present during practice.”
I want to take it a step further and talk about why it’s so important. Everything you do starts with being in the present moment — Your drive. Your competitiveness. Your work ethic. Your resiliency. Your attitude. Your effort. Your motivation.
By being in the present moment, you’re able to listen better, learn more, decrease stress, worry less, prevent overthinking and enjoy more.
It’s almost impossible to be the best version of yourself if you’re too busy worrying about the past or stressing about the future. If you want to be the best. You want to surpass your competition? Getting into the present moment is how you do it.
