What’s up everyone and welcome back to Mental Sweat Monday, I’m Hannah Huesman!
I hate to burst your bubble, but not every day is going to be a highlight reel day. Unlike what social media tells us — most days are boring, monotonous and just about trying to stay consistent in order to reach our goals.
Think about this, if I asked you to break down the last 10 performances or workdays that you’ve had, how many of those 10 would be the best of your entire life?
Maybe one? Maybe none?
Of those same 10, how many would be the absolute worst performances of your life?
The reality is that we tend to observe in extremes. ‘Today was the worst day of my life’ or ‘today was the best day of my life.’ When the reality is, most days are just solid.
It all comes down to self-evaluation and how we see our days. The problem is, we tend to get discouraged when every day isn’t a highlight reel day. When in reality it’s not supposed to be.
It’s supposed to be ugly, it’s supposed to be hard, and it’s supposed to be filled with failure. But without the ugly and the difficult and the failure, you wouldn’t have the rare highlight reel day.
